I am a native English speaker from Ireland with a long and varied career in the Biosciences sector, spanning three decades in four different countries. I obtained my PhD in Microbiology in 1994 from Trinity College, Dublin.
Several years ago I decided to change career, and in 2020 I obtained my CELTA qualification from BLTC, Amsterdam.
I teach at Lisse Volksuniversiteit and VKC De Spiegeling, Leiden. I also teach private lessons.
Additionally, I provide Business English training to companies in the Leiden Bioscience Park.
I speak Dutch (B1 level) which can be useful with lower level students.
During the summer months I teach English to Spanish/Italian teenagers at a Junior School Program in Ireland for 2 weeks.
Helping students improve their communication skills in English is extremely rewarding for me. Providing interesting and interactive lessons for student-centred learning is key to improving fluency in English. Lessons are designed to meet all levels of English from total beginner to advanced.
Having previously worked as an experienced Scientist/Team Leader, I am well-equipped to deliver highly effective and professional Business English lessons. Additional tailoring of the course and support can be offered where needed.
